Logistics Manager

Logistics Manager

Job Description

You will be one of the leaders within our logistic department and come up with solutions for our clients. As a Manager / Senior Manager – Logistics/Transportation you will:

  • Lead a team consisting of client team members and Gibson associates
  • Create, evaluate, and implement new strategies and initiatives for clients
  • Take ownership of your work in an independent and entrepreneurial environment
  • Train clients on best practices for logistic souring
  • Prepare presentations based on your findings for client executives
  • Have an opportunity to travel and meet with clients throughout the world
  • Make your mark on a global consulting firm by interfacing with client executives and helping develop unique solutions for our clients

Position Requirements

We are looking for candidates for our Manager / Senior Manager – Logistics/Transportation position based out of our Chicago office that have an entrepreneurial spirit and that are focused on client service. The ideal candidates consist of:

  • 6 – 10 years of prior logistics/distribution consulting experience
  • Deep knowledge of logistics, transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Sourcing/industry experience of all modes of logistics (e.g., Truckload, LTL, Freight Forwarding, Ocean, Rail, Air)
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operation and distribution networks
  • Knowledge of transportation pricing and carrier negotiations
  • Experience with Global operations and managing teams in various geographies including North America, Europe, and Asia
  • Experience leading large-scale supply chain transformation projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation and presentation skills; ability to present and lead client meetings
  • Experience and ability to provide internal and client on-the-job training; especially around Data Analytics, Executive Communication, and general administration
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to manage project timelines and complete tasks as required on-time and to the highest level of quality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite programs (including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access)
  • Strong analytical skills; experience with Excel PivotTables, Access and/or data visualization tools
  • Ability to work in a growth-oriented entrepreneurial environment
  • Willingness to travel (domestic and international) up to 100% of the time to support our clients in the field
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Business (e.g., Accounting, Supply Chain, IT, Finance, Logistics) and/or Engineering from an accredited college/university

Optional Experience

  • Previous employment at a Big 4 or Boutique Logistical Focused or Supply Chain focused consulting firm
  • Client training experience
  • MBA is a plus

  • Work and occasionally lead a category team consisting of client team members and Gibson associates sourcing multimillion-dollar categories including direct and indirect spend categories
  • Manipulate large sets of data in Excel, Access, PowerBI, and other programs to help drive organizational decisions
  • Travel to client and supplier manufacturing sites globally to evaluate manufacturing operations
  • Work with global manufacturing clients across multiple industries
  • Prepare presentations based on your findings for client and Gibson executives
  •  Assist and co-instruct with client skill-based training on topics such as Purchasing Methodology, Executive Communication, Site Visits, and Negotiations
  • Make your mark on a global consulting firm by interfacing with client executives and helping develop unique solutions for our clients

Position Requirements

We are looking for candidates for full-time Senior Consultants based out of our Chicago office that have an entrepreneurial spirit and that are focused on client service. The ideal candidates consist of:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business (e.g., Accounting, Supply Chain, IT, Finance, Logistics) and/or Engineering from an accredited college/university with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • 3 – 5 years of prior industry/operational consulting experience (internships, case studies, or prior work experience) – Operations, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain and/or Global Procurement of Direct/Indirect materials experience preferred
  • Willingness to travel (domestic and international) up to 100% of the time to support our clients in the field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation and presentation skills; ability to present and lead client meetings professionally
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite programs (including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access)
  • Strong analytical skills; experience with Excel PivotTables, Access and/or data visualization tools (PowerBI)
  • Ability to work in a growth-oriented entrepreneurial environment
  • Experience leading teams and providing “on the job” training around data analytics and business administration
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to manage project timelines and complete tasks as required on-time and to the highest level of quality
  • Strong attention to detail
