Robert P. Kelley
Senior Partner

Robert Kelley is currently a senior partner at Gibson Consulting, LLC. Prior to joining Gibson, Mr. Kelley worked for Gibson and Associates, Inc. and IBM Consulting. Over the past 17 years, Mr. Kelley has managed the successful completion of several management consulting and systems development/ integration projects for manufacturing clients in the automotive, printing, and aerospace and consumer goods industries. Client examples include developing best practices/processes and technology for a new automotive manufacturing plant and distribution center; re-engineering the Spare Parts Order Fulfillment/Distribution Network for a North American Automotive Company; implementing flow manufacturing for a large semi conductor manufacturer and an aerospace manufacturer in conjunction with their SAP implementation; implementing Strategic Sourcing for several OEMs in North America and Europe.

Previously in IBM manufacturing, he held various senior management positions in several plants as well as headquarters. During his two-year international assignments as Plant Manager in Mexico, he successfully directed the transfer of IBM's PS/2 technology/manufacturing to the Guadalajara plant, including implementation of new Order Management/ MRP systems and Strategic Sourcing. Mr. Kelley has managed numerous operational areas at IBM, including Manager of Industrial Engineering and Planning, Site Manager of Distribution, Manager of Electronic Assembly Operations and Site Manager of Production Control. He successfully managed the design, justification and automation of a new $24 million warehouse and distribution center for IBM's printer facility. As the manager of Industrial Engineering and Planning, Mr. Kelley managed resource planning, layout/space planning, scheduling and cost areas for a new multi-million dollar printed circuit board manufacturing plant in Austin, Texas.

Mr. Kelley has lectured on both Lean Manufacturing and Leveraging Information Technology. Presentations include the American Newspaper Association National Convention, the National Electronics Manufacturing Research Conference, National ProTec Conference and the Warehousing Education and Research Council's National Conference. He is a past member of the Advisory Council for Engineering Technology at Texas A&M University. He served as Advisor to the Austin Chamber of Commerce for Import/Export Development and is a member of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers.

Mr. Kelley received his BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Tennessee. He has completed several professional and management development courses sponsored by IBM including Business Finance and Planning in La Hulpe, Belgium; Phil Crosby's Quality College, and Advanced Management in New York.
